FAQs

What is Precision Cut Master and how does it impact the sound on my vinyl?

The Precision Cut Master (PCM) is our proprietary soft vinyl blend developed in-house at Train Records. Unlike traditional lacquers, PCM allows us to streamline production, cutting directly in-house to reduce turnaround time. PCM delivers a warm, full sound that is perfect for genres like rock, pop, and hip-hop. However, due to its higher sound floor, it's important to note that quieter recordings, such as instrumentals or a cappella tracks, may pick up more surface noise in silent sections. If your project falls into these categories, please contact us to discuss options.

What is the turnaround time for Express Vinyl?

Our Express Vinyl service typically has a turnaround time of 4 to 6 weeks. This expedited service eliminates the test press, with our in-house quality team ensuring that your records meet high standards throughout the process.

If you need to hear your music before we go to press, we offer digital audio approvals for an additional cost. Please contact us to add this option to your order.

Can I put more than 20 minutes of music per side on my Express vinyl?

Yes, you can! We can accommodate up to 25 minutes per side, depending on the music. Bass-heavy or dynamic tracks require wider grooves which take up more space, this reduces the maximum time we can fit on a record. The maximum length we can accomodate will depend on the specific characteristics of your music.

Please note that if your track exceeds 20 minutes (even by a second), an additional charge applies, with the maximum length being 25 minutes per side.

How do I order? What do I need to provide you with?

Ordering is easy! Simply select the vinyl style and package you want from our site, customize your options, and proceed to checkout. After placing your order, you’ll receive an email with instructions to upload your audio files and artwork. We'll guide you through the process and keep you updated every step of the way.

What’s included in the price?

The price includes everything you need to get your vinyl pressed, such as mastering, PCM, and metal stampers, along with the vinyl pressing itself. The final price will only vary if there are over- or under-runs in the production quantity, which we’ll adjust on the final invoice. Shipping and applicable taxes are separate.

What audio formats do you accept for pressing?

We recommend submitting your audio in 24-bit, 96kHz WAV or AIFF format for optimal vinyl pre-mastering. However, we also accept 16-bit, 44.1kHz (CD quality) audio files. Please avoid MP3s, as they are not suitable for vinyl pressing.

What is the minimum order quantity?

The minimum order quantity for most of our 12-inch vinyl packages is 50-100 records. If you need a custom quantity or a smaller run, feel free to reach out to us for pricing and options.
